This scholarship will help me with my future endeavors because it gives me a better chance of competing with my peers who have had more support, financially.. Most students at Stanford University come from more affluent backgrounds than me and as a result, they don’t have to take part-time jobs to be able to purchase items like textbooks, clothes, etc. They, therefore, have more time to study and partake in internships that allow them to build experiences in their future endeavors. However, because I come from a less affluent background, I would be forced to work in order to buy essentials. Due to Stanford’s academic rigor, I would be in danger of falling behind my peers; thus this scholarship will lessen my financial burden and increase my chances of excelling in school.

Hello, my name is Saide Curiel and I am a first generation college student attending UC Berkeley. I was nervous when the thought of starting college was getting closer, knowing I’d have minimal financial support, thus affecting my studies. Transitioning from living at home to living on campus has been especially stressful because I do not have my family close by for support. When I applied to the Aiming Forward College Foundation, I was very nervous and worried that I wouldn’t get the stipend since it was one of the first scholarships to which I applied. With this financial support, I hope to get bare necessities like groceries, cleaning supplies, etc. as well as save up money for other needs. I am thankful to the Aiming Forward College Foundation for choosing me as a recipient for this scholarship and hope they continue to help others in my position.

Aiming Forward College Foundation Board of Directors will award the first three recipients before the Fall 2022 semester. The selected students will be featured on our website along with their picture and bio.
